Conformance standard
This site aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, and follows the intent of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act as it applies to federally funded research communication.
Conformance is self-assessed. It was last reviewed in August 2026 using keyboard-only navigation, browser zoom to 200%, and automated contrast checking.
Measures taken
Structure. Semantic HTML landmarks and a single ordered heading hierarchy, so screen readers can navigate by region and heading.
Keyboard access. Every control is reachable and operable by keyboard, with a skip-to-content link and a visible 2px focus indicator on all interactive elements.
Contrast. Body text meets the 4.5:1 minimum and interface chrome meets 3:1 against the page ground. Color is never the only means of conveying information.
Motion. Scroll and hover animation is decorative only, and is disabled automatically for visitors whose system requests reduced motion. Nothing moves, blinks, or auto-advances without user action.
Imagery. Micrographs, CT reconstructions, and acoustic maps carry text alternatives describing what the figure shows, not just its file name.
Reflow & zoom. Layout reflows to a single column on small screens and remains readable at 200% zoom without horizontal scrolling.
Known limitations
Some linked material is hosted by third parties and is outside my control. Publisher PDFs on IEEE, Springer, and similar platforms may not be fully tagged for screen readers, and patent documents served by the USPTO are scanned images in places.
